| The San Leon Volunteer Fire Department recently hosted the monthly Galveston County Fire Association meeting.
This meeting brought together fire departments from across Galveston County to discuss matters affecting the fire service, including upcoming training opportunities, reimbursement programs, available resources, and the future direction of departments throughout the county.
Each month, a different department hosts the meeting and provides dinner. These gatherings also allow departments to learn from guest speakers and vendors who present new firefighting equipment, protective gear, technological advances, and other resources that support fire service operations in the community.
Siddons-Martin Emergency Group and MSA Safety provided dual sponsorship of the barbecue dinner for this month's meeting. Their ongoing support of fire service professionals is acknowledged and appreciated.
No single department can accomplish everything alone. By coming together as one county, sharing information, building relationships, training jointly, and communicating about common needs, each department is made stronger.
Ultimately, while uniforms may display different department patches, all fire service personnel share the mission of protecting the citizens of Galveston County.
