| San Leon Fire Department members recently conducted hands-on training focused on water supply, pump operations, and relay pumping, working alongside some of the department’s new Engine Operators.
Establishing a reliable water supply is one of the most important tasks at any fire scene. Pump operators are required to understand factors such as friction loss, water flow rates, available supply, and what is being delivered to crews actively fighting the fire. It is crucial to manage both what is sent out to the fireground and what is received into the pump.
When firefighters are depending on a steady water supply to perform interior attacks, protect nearby structures, or control quickly spreading fires, there is no margin for uncertainty. Being prepared before arriving on scene is essential.
Continuous hands-on training and preparation are the only ways for firefighters and Engine Operators to become more efficient, safer, and faster during real emergencies.
The department commends all members who dedicate their time to training and learning, ensuring they are ready when the community needs them.
