The Sacrifice Behind a Volunteer Fire Department

Many people may not realize what it truly takes to keep a volunteer fire department fully operational.
The public sees the fire truck, the emergency call, and the response—but often, they do not see the countless hours our members dedicate behind the scenes.
Our volunteers give up evenings, weekends, family time, rest, and personal commitments to train, inspect equipment, maintain their protective gear, complete required documentation, and ensure the department is ready to answer the call when our community needs help.
After completing two long days of our Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, several members remained for additional hours today to conduct annual gear inspections, inventory, and check each member’s issued equipment and protective gear.
This level of dedication comes with personal sacrifice, especially knowing that families are waiting at home.
Our department operates because of a team effort. It takes every member doing their part.
We have built a team, we are continuously improving that team, and we are growing our team by welcoming those who want to be a part of something bigger.
The chiefs are extremely proud of every member who steps up to strengthen, protect, and prepare our department.
When the emergency call comes in, our community expects us to be ready. The unseen hours of sacrifice make that possible.
To our members and the families who support them: thank you.
Your time, dedication, and commitment are recognized and valued.
