| Training at San Leon Volunteer Fire Department continues beyond scheduled sessions. Yesterday, Chief Jeff Pittman extended this week’s hands-on engine operator training with members Tre and Austin. Chief Pittman spent personal time working directly with these members to strengthen their skills in apparatus checks, pumper familiarity, operating systems, and equipment inspections using the department’s PS Trax maintenance and inspection system. The training included instruction on properly lifting the apparatus cab, identifying essential components, understanding inspection procedures, and providing opportunities for members to ask questions. Through these sessions, trainees built confidence in their responsibilities and gained valuable experience. The department emphasizes comprehensive education and preparation before assigning engine operator duties. Members are thoroughly trained to safely operate the equipment relied on by firefighters and the community. Chief Pittman’s continued investment of time, knowledge, and leadership is recognized and appreciated by the department. His support fosters growth and success among team members. Members Tre and Austin are commended for their dedication and commitment as they work toward becoming qualified engine operators. San Leon VFD remains committed to rigorous training, dedication, leadership, and readiness to serve the community. |
