Most fire trucks were utilitarian, sometimes adapted from surplus military or commercial vehicles, and the firehouse was a simple building, unlike the facility in use today. Despite these challenges, the founding members of the department established a strong tradition of service that has continued to grow.
Over seven decades, San Leon has expanded into a thriving community of over 6,000 residents. This growth has required advancements in emergency services, and the fire department has kept pace. The present-day department operates with advanced equipment and state-of-the-art technology. Modern fire trucks feature sophisticated pumps, hoses, and rescue tools, and firefighters wear gear designed for maximum protection.
