| San Leon, Texas — January 2026 — The San Leon Fire Department is inviting community members to consider volunteering as firefighters as the department begins recruitment for 2026. This opportunity is open to anyone with a desire to help others and give back to the San Leon community.
No prior firefighting experience is required. All necessary training is provided by the department. Individuals with previous fire, EMS, or emergency response experience are encouraged to apply, but experience is not required.
Volunteer firefighters respond to a wide range of calls, including structure fires, brush fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and other incidents where neighbors need help. Volunteers train together, learn together, and work as a team to keep San Leon safe.
Training and department meetings are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, allowing volunteers to serve while balancing work, school, and family commitments. Those interested are welcome to stop by on a training night, meet the crew, and see what the department is about—no obligation and no pressure to join. If you’ve ever been curious about volunteering with the fire department, this is a great time to come check it out.
“We’re looking for people who care about this community and are willing to step up when it matters,” said the San Leon Fire Department. “You don’t need experience—just a willingness to learn, train, and serve alongside your neighbors.”
Basic Requirements Include:
• Must be at least 18 years of age • Valid driver’s license • Ability to meet physical and training requirements • Successful background screening • Commitment to attending Tuesday and Thursday evening training
Applications are now being accepted. Anyone interested in learning more is encouraged to stop by the station on a Tuesday or Thursday evening, attend a training class, and fill out an application located on our website online.
