| 🔥 ILLEGAL BURN PROMPTS FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONSE 🔥
San Leon Fire was dispatched to a reported trailer fire in the 2800 block of FM 517. Initial reports indicated the trailer was fully involved, and automatic mutual aid was requested from Dickinson and Bacliff Fire Departments.
Upon arrival, crews determined that the fire involved a torn-down trailer and debris that property owners were burning. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
This incident is an important reminder to our community: outdoor burning must be conducted legally, safely, and in accordance with all applicable regulations.
When conducting an authorized burn:
🔥 Make sure any required burn permit or notification is current and on file.
🔥 Burn only materials that are legally permitted to be burned.
🔥 Have an adequate water source or hose immediately available.
🔥 A responsible person must remain with the fire for the entire burn.
🔥 Smoke and fire must not create a hazard or interfere with roadways, neighboring properties, or the public.
🔥 Burning may begin no earlier than one hour after sunrise and must be completed no later than one hour before sunset.
🔥 Always verify that there is no burn ban or other restriction in effect before burning.
Texas generally prohibits outdoor burning except under specific exceptions, and local requirements may also apply.
