Crews practiced calling a Mayday, operating effectively in confined or challenging spaces, performing firefighter carries, applying drag techniques, and removing a firefighter when the usual exit routes are not available.
Emergencies do not provide time to pause or figure out solutions on the scene. It is never certain where a firefighter might become incapacitated, what barriers may lie in the way, how limited the space could be, or what challenges must be overcome to reach and rescue them.
This is why comprehensive training is so important. When a Mayday is declared and a firefighter is in need, immediate and confident action is essential. Training hard, trusting the team, and preparing for every scenario help ensure that everyone can return safely.
